Queens Park Reserve

Off the lead is allowed across the grass at Queens Park Reserve on Treasure Road, one of the City of Canning's approved dog exercise areas. The catch is the playing field.

Leads and the off-lead area

Dogs may run off the lead on the grassed reserve, but must stay off the playing field whenever organised sport or team training is under way. Keep them out of the patches of native bushland too, which protect local wildlife.

The walk

A walk here is a lap of the perimeter around a big, flat lawn with a synthetic cricket pitch in the middle. The clear sightlines make it easy to keep watch on a dog off the lead.

Mature trees along the edge and by the parking bays give good shade. There is also a playground, a basketball court, change rooms and a community hall.

Bring your own water and bags.

Max: If a team is training on the field, clip the lead on and stick to the edges. That rule is easy to break by accident.

Make a day of it

For a fenced run, Railway Dog Park is in the same suburb, and the coffee stop in nearby Cannington is Kynd Coffee Co.

Families and sports groups use it heavily, so dogs that enjoy a lively setting do best here.
