Princes Park, Caulfield South

Four sports ovals at the corner of Hawthorn and Bambra Roads make Princes Park one of Caulfield South's bigger off-lead spaces, as long as you know which end is which.

Leads and the off-lead area

The western end is on lead. That covers the playground, rotunda, picnic area and open space along Hawthorn Road, plus Oval 1, the fenced football oval closest to the DC Bricker Pavilion.

The remaining ovals and open space to the east are off lead. Glen Eira City Council still requires a lead within 20 metres of sporting activity, playgrounds and picnic facilities.

The walk

Internal paths, partly paved, loop around the ovals and are well used by local walkers and runners. Mature trees shade the perimeter tracks, though the fields themselves are open.

There are water taps with bowls and bins in the park, and free parking on site and along Bambra and Hawthorn Roads.

When to go

The off-lead ovals are at their best when no games are on, so check for fixtures before unclipping. Social dogs will find plenty of regulars to meet.
