Penshurst Park

Penshurst Park off Percival Street is a flat, sealed circuit around one of the area's busiest sporting hubs. Dogs are welcome on it as long as they stay on lead.

Lead rules

Georges River Council requires dogs to be on a leash at all times here. Dogs must also keep at least 10 metres from the children's playground and the barbecue areas.

The walk

The perimeter path is asphalt and concrete, wide and easy underfoot. It takes you past synthetic sports fields, the Hurstville Aquatic Centre and a run of outdoor fitness stations.

Bins sit around the park, and the upgraded precinct has shade structures and landscaped edges. Bubblers are around but spread out, so a portable bowl is handy.

Street parking and dedicated bays serve the sporting hub and playground.

Arrowsmith Park is the local signed off-leash area for a run after the lead walk, and South Pour Sydney is close for a coffee.

When to go

The hub draws crowds when games are on, so quieter weekday mornings and evenings suit a steady walk. It is a good fit for older dogs and anyone after a predictable, even loop.
