Heritage cottages and old street trees set the scene on the Eastwood and Parkside Historic Walking Trail, a street walk of about 2 kilometres through two of Adelaide's older inner suburbs. Dogs come along on a lead.
The walk
This is a footpath route, not a park trail. Concrete and asphalt pavements lead past Victorian cottages and 19th-century streetscapes, flat and easy underfoot.
Shade comes from the mature street canopy rather than shelters, so carry water for the dog.
Lead rules
On streets and footpaths, dogs must be on a lead no longer than 2 metres under City of Burnside rules. Any reserve you cut through along the way has its own signs, and those apply inside it.
Make a day of it
Finish with a meal at the Earl of Leicester Hotel in Parkside or a coffee at Eat on Glen Osmond in Eastwood.
A good pick for older dogs and for owners who like some history with their walk. Street parking near the start is easy to find.
