Olivers Creek Bushland Reserve

Olivers Creek Bushland Reserve in Tyabb is a quiet, shady circuit through gully woodland and swamp scrub, about 30 minutes on foot. Mornington Peninsula Shire requires dogs to be on a lead at all times.

The walk

The tracks are unmade but level, with only gentle rises, and include a boardwalk and a bridge over the creek. Look out for the QR codes along the way, which play an audio guide to the local birdlife.

Heavy canopy keeps most of the circuit in shade. It tends to stay quiet on weekdays and weekends alike, which suits dogs that prefer a calm outing.

Bring your own

There is no water on the tracks and few bins inside the reserve. Carry water, a bowl and bags, and take waste out with you.

Max: This is bird habitat. Keep me on a short lead and the walk stays quiet for everyone.

Getting started

Park on the service road in front of Tyabb Primary School off Mornington-Tyabb Road, in the school carpark, or at the end of Wellington Road.

Make a day of it

Tyabb has a dog-focused stop in Miss Drew's Dog Cafe, or try Rattling Red Cafe for coffee.

The shade makes it a good warm-weather option, and the gentle grade suits older dogs.
