Begola Wetlands

Begola Wetlands is a pocket of reeds and shallow water tucked among the streets of Ocean Grove on the Bellarine Peninsula. It is a flat, easy on-lead walk with frogs calling and birds on the water.

The City of Greater Geelong requires dogs to be on a lead at all times here.

The walk

Formed paths follow the wetland edge and lead to a viewing platform. The distance is short to medium, good for a quick leg stretch or an older dog.

A local Friends of Begola Wetlands group helps look after the site, so stick to the paths.

Getting started

Access is near Tuckfield Street and Emperor Drive. There is a small car park on Tuckfield Street, plus free street parking on both roads.

Bins and clean-up signs are in the precinct. There are no dog water stations on the path, so bring a bowl and water.

When to go

Shade is limited along parts of the route, so summer walks are best early or late. The short, flat route also suits older dogs on a weekday leg stretch.
