Fig Tree Point (Hallstrom Point)

Fig Tree Point, also called Hallstrom Point, sits at the end of Hallstrom Close in Northbridge, where a short walk drops down to the water of Long Bay in Middle Harbour. Dogs are welcome on lead.

The walk

A steep paved access way leads down to a natural rock shelf and a foreshore track. It is short, but the climb back up will get the heart going.

Big old fig trees shade the point, and the views stretch across Long Bay and Middle Harbour.

Lead rules

Willoughby City Council requires dogs on lead on its formal tracks and reserves here to protect wildlife habitat. Keep your dog close on the rocks too.

Max: Rock shelves get slippery near the water. Keep the lead short and watch your footing.

Make a day of it

Add the Primrose Park Walking Track for more harbour views, or stop at Cafe Carino in Cammeray.

The steep slope makes this better for fit dogs than older ones. Late afternoon light on the water is the pick.
