Nancy Fischer Reserve

Nancy Fischer Reserve on Hurcombe Street is a small, shady green space in West Beach whose paths link onto the River Torrens Linear Park trail. The City of Charles Sturt allows dogs on a lead no longer than 2 metres, at all times.

The walk

Sealed paths loop the reserve past open lawns and a children's playground, then connect to the linear trail beside the water. It makes a short circuit on its own or the start of a longer walk.

Mature trees give intermittent shade over the paths and grass, handy on warmer days.

Getting started

Street parking is on Hurcombe Street and the surrounding streets. Water and bins are not confirmed, so bring water and bags.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run, head to the West Beach dog beach. During daylight saving, the council allows dogs off lead on the West Beach foreshore before 10am and after 8pm.

Coffee is at Beach Break Café.

The 2 metre lead limit and the playground make this better for calm sniffing walks than for fetch. Pair it with an early beach session in summer.
