Moreton Terrace Park

Moreton Terrace Park is the start of a sheltered mangrove walk in Beachmere that opens onto views across Moreton Bay to Bribie Island and the mouth of the Caboolture River. Dogs go on lead through the park and off lead in the signed foreshore zone.

Leads and the off-lead area

The City of Moreton Bay runs a designated off-leash area on the Beachmere foreshore, near where the boardwalk meets the shore. It stretches from the southern end of Biggs Avenue toward the Caboolture River mouth.

Further north toward Louise Drive, dogs must be back on lead. Watch the signs as you cross between zones.

The walk

The route mixes grassy parkland, a boardwalk along the breakwall, sandy tracks and mangrove paths. Out on the intertidal flats, dogs love nosing around and chasing soldier crabs.

Pepsi: The flats are the best bit. Soldier crabs everywhere and plenty of room to splash once you reach the off-lead stretch.

Water and shade

Drinking taps and bowls are near the foreshore and park areas, with bins at the access points. Established trees and shaded picnic tables give cover.

Parking is free near the park and at the Biggs Avenue breakwall access.

Make a day of it

Beachmere Offleash Dog Beach is the next stop for a longer run, and The Black Cat Eatery is close by for lunch.

The mix of on-lead park and off-lead foreshore suits dogs that like variety. Check the tide before you go, since the flats are the highlight.
