Mooroopna Aboriginal History Walk

The Mooroopna Aboriginal History Walk is a level, sealed path across The Flats, the river country between the Peter Ross-Edwards Causeway and the Goulburn River. Dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

Keep your dog leashed at all times. The track sits in Greater Shepparton City Council's area, where dogs must be on lead on shared reserves and walking tracks unless a spot is signed off-lead.

The walk

The asphalt path is flat enough for prams and wheelchairs. It passes river red gums on the floodplain and signs telling the story of the Aboriginal community who lived on The Flats.

Tree canopy shades much of the route.

Water and parking

There is no drinking water on the track, so carry some for the dog. The closest tap is about 150 metres away through the underpass at Kidstown Adventure Playground.

The trailhead has its own car park, and the number 1 bus stops nearby. Bins are limited, so take bags home.

Max: This is a big stretch of bushland where people sometimes sleep rough. Stay alert and keep the lead on.
