Minnippi Parklands

Minnippi Parklands covers more than 90 hectares of Carina, with paved paths looping past reed-lined lagoons full of waterbirds. Dogs are on lead on the walking tracks, and a fenced off-leash area gives them somewhere to run afterwards.

Lead rules

Brisbane City Council requires dogs to be leashed throughout the general parklands, including the lake circuit. The fenced off-leash area is at Preston Road Park, inside the precinct, with agility equipment and separate areas.

Dogs are not allowed to swim in the lagoon, so keep them out of the water.

The walk

The Minnippi Lake Circuit is about 2 kilometres of flat, sealed path shared with bikes. Shaded viewing platforms, mature trees and picnic shelters break it up, though some open stretches get full sun in the middle of the day.

Drinking fountains with dog bowls and plenty of bins line the paths. Parking bays are off Preston Road.

Make a day of it

If the Preston Road yard is busy, Carindale Recreation Reserve Fenced Dog Park is another fenced option. Sankeys Lookout at Camp Hill makes a good second walk.

Flat, smooth and well supplied with water, Minnippi suits older dogs as well as young ones. Walk the circuit first, then let the dog burn off the rest in the fenced yard.
