Carindale Recreation Reserve Fenced Dog Park

The fenced dog park at Carindale Recreation Reserve on Cadogan Street is a three-hectare off-leash run known locally as Rocket Park, thanks to the space-themed playground next door. Its size alone puts it near the top of the eastside list: a fully fenced field where a dog can genuinely gallop rather than jog in circles.

The dog setup

The main field is fully fenced with double gates, and there is a separate section for smaller or timid dogs if the big field feels like too much. Dogs stay leashed until you are through the gate, and Brisbane City Council's off-leash conditions apply inside: keep your dog within sight, under effective voice control, and remove any dog that turns rough rather than waiting it out. Water fountains, shaded seating and waste bag stations are on site, with bins at the entries.

Max: three fenced hectares means the fetch arm finally gets a proper workout.

Worth knowing

This is a popular park with a regular local crowd, so sociable dogs settle in quickly. The fenced area is accessible around the clock, but lighting after dark is limited, so evening sessions are best in the brighter months. If your dog is nervous around groups, weekday middays are the calmest stretch; weekend mornings are the social peak.

Getting there and parking

The dog park side of the reserve is entered from Cadogan Street, with a dedicated car park of more than 40 spaces, so arriving by car is easy even at busy times. The playground beside the fence makes it a clean split between kids and dog time, and the Carindale shopping precinct is a few minutes away for the rest of the errand list.

Two more fenced runs sit inside Carindale itself: the Preston Road Park Fenced Dog Park and the Newbury Place Park Fenced Dog Park. For a quieter session across the river side of the east, the Keralgerie Park Fenced Dog Park in Morningside is a short drive, or grab a coffee at the Carport Cafe in Cannon Hill on the way home.
