Harold Reid Reserve Foreshore Track

Harold Reid Reserve Foreshore Track loops through sandstone bushland in Middle Cove, with views across Sugarloaf Bay and Middle Harbour. Dogs can come, on a lead and on the formal tracks only.

Lead rules

Willoughby City Council has made the reserve a Level 2 Wildlife Protection Area. Dogs must stay leashed and keep to the formal walking tracks.

The walk

Expect unsealed bush track with dirt and rock underfoot, some of it slippery. Heavy native canopy shades most of the way.

This is classic Hawkesbury sandstone country, with waterfront bush, wildflowers and wide harbour views. The loop runs roughly 2 to 3 kilometres depending on the variation you take.

Max: The rock sections get slippery. Keep the lead short, slow down, and watch your footing on the way down toward the water.

Getting started

Street parking and small parking areas sit near entry points such as Sugarloaf Crescent. Bins are by the picnic and barbecue areas up top, but water along the track is limited, so bring your own.

Make a day of it

Finish with a coffee in Willoughby at Cafe Vita or SOULPLATE.

The deep shade makes it a solid summer option. It suits sure-footed dogs that are happy on uneven ground.
