The Incinerator Café

Set in a heritage 1930s incinerator building designed by Walter Burley Griffin, this Willoughby cafe pairs a striking piece of architecture with a genuinely dog-friendly terrace right next to Bicentennial Reserve.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome on the large outdoor terrace, which is the main spot locals bring their dogs. Water bowls are provided outside. Staff are used to dogs, but indoor seating is a case of asking on arrival rather than assuming. Keep dogs leashed at all times.

Good to know. The menu runs a solid brunch and lunch line-up, bacon and egg rolls, hash browns, shakshuka and eggs benedict among the regulars. It gets busy on weekends, so the terrace can fill fast.

Getting there. The cafe is at 2a Small Street, Willoughby, sharing a free car park with Willoughby Leisure Centre next door. Street parking is also available on Small Street and nearby residential streets.

Nearby with the dogs. Bicentennial Reserve is right beside the cafe, with walking tracks and bushland for a walk before or after coffee.

Go early on weekends if you want the terrace to yourself, it fills quickly once the Bicentennial Reserve walkers start arriving.
