Ryde Riverwalk

The Ryde Riverwalk traces the northern foreshore of the Parramatta River between Ryde Bridge and Gladesville Bridge, through Meadowbank, Putney and Kissing Point. It is a continuous paved path with river views all the way, and dogs walk it on a lead.

Lead rules

City of Ryde allows dogs on lead on the shared paths and public reserves along the river. They are not allowed within 10 metres of children's playgrounds or inside the signed wildlife protection areas.

Off-lead exercise is limited to designated parks such as Meadowbank Park, where the off-lead area applies when sport is not on.

The walk

Asphalt and concrete paths are shared with cyclists, so keep your dog to one side. The route passes historic reserves, playgrounds and busy waterfront parks.

Mature trees shade some sections, while the open foreshore gets full sun. Bubblers and refill stations sit at key parks, some with dog bowls, and bins are regular along the path.

Parking is easiest near the main access points, such as Kissing Point Park and Meadowbank Park.

Make a day of it

Meadowbank Dog Beach gives dogs a swim off the lead, and Charity Creek Cascades Dog Park in West Ryde is another off-lead option.

Early mornings are the calmest time, before the path fills with bikes and families. The flat, paved surface suits older dogs.
