Marion Coastal Walking Trail

Sandstone cliffs, reef platforms and big views over Gulf St Vincent line the Marion Coastal Walking Trail between Marino and Hallett Cove. Dogs can walk most of it on a lead, but not the southern end.

Leads and the no-dog section

The City of Marion requires dogs on a lead on the permitted sections, from Kingston Park to Clifftop Crescent in Hallett Cove.

Dogs are banned from the Hallett Cove Conservation Park section at the southern end under state law, so turn around before you reach it.

The walk

Boardwalks, suspension bridges, paved and earth paths and long flights of stairs make this a workout rather than a stroll. Shade is scarce along the clifftop, so the sun hits hard.

Drinking fountains sit along the route and bins are at the access points, but carry extra water for the dog. Free parking is at the main trailheads, including near Marino Esplanade and Burnham Road.

Max: The stairs and bare clifftops are tough in summer. Pick a cool morning and bring plenty of water.
