Lovers Walk

Lovers Walk is the Borough of Queenscliffe's longest unpaved trail, a sandy path through Coastal Moonah Woodland between Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale. Dogs walk it on lead, and Narrows Beach nearby is where they get to run.

Leads and the off-lead beach

The Borough requires dogs on a lead across its public areas and trails, including this one. Narrows Beach is the exception, with a year-round off-lead zone from the end of the boardwalk east to Fraser Street.

The walk

The single track is sandy, uneven and undulating as it winds through the moonah, past old gun emplacements and regular ocean lookouts. Side tracks lead down to the beaches below.

The woodland shades much of the route, and the path links to the Point Lonsdale promenade near Narrows Beach if you want to keep going.

Getting started

Car parks at Ocean View near the Queenscliff Lighthouse, Henry Street, Fraser Street and Narrows Beach all give access. Water on the trail is limited, so carry some, and use the bins at the car parks.

Make a day of it

Finish with an off-lead run at Point Lonsdale Dog Beach, then coffee at The Salty Breeze Cafe.

Soft sand makes it harder work than it looks, so it suits fit dogs better than older ones who prefer a firm path.
