Lithgow City Heritage Walk

Lithgow's heritage walk is a 3 kilometre loop through the town centre, past old brick shopfronts and deep verandas. It is an on-lead town stroll, easy to fit around a coffee stop.

Lead rules

Lithgow City Council requires dogs on a lead along the streets and through the parks on this loop. Off-lead running is limited to designated areas such as Endeavour Park and the Montague Street dog park.

The walk

The route follows concrete footpaths and park paths. Look out for the statue of Olympic champion Marjorie Jackson, the Lithgow Flash, and the rose beds in Queen Elizabeth Park.

Shade is patchy. The park has mature trees, but the street sections are open to the sun.

Water and parking

There is street parking along Main Street and beside Queen Elizabeth Park. Bubblers sit around the civic area and the park, and bins line Main Street, but a bottle for the dog helps on the street stretches.

After the walk

For an off-lead run, the fenced dog park on Montague Street has water and a concrete path beside Farmer's Creek.

Mornings suit it best, before the open streets heat up. It is a good fit for dogs who are relaxed around people and cafe tables.
