Bowenfels Off Leash Dog Park is a fully fenced, double-gated off-leash area right on the Great Western Highway (A32) at Bowenfels, next door to a children's playground. It has a separate small or timid dog section, so it works whether you've got a boisterous kelpie or a nervous rescue.
The rules. Dogs must stay on-leash in the surrounding public area and can only run off-leash once inside the fenced boundary. Keep voice control of your dog at all times, and pick up after them straight away - bins and bag dispensers are on site.
What's there. The park has agility equipment (ramps and obstacles), bench seating for owners, a drinking water tap, natural turf underfoot, and the dedicated small/timid dog area mentioned above. Bring your own water bowl as a backup in case the tap isn't running.
Getting there. It's right off the Great Western Highway in Bowenfels with parking next to the park, so it's an easy stop by car. There's also a walking approach along paths by Farmers Creek if you're coming from nearby streets. Lithgow's town centre is only a few minutes' drive away.

Nearby with the dogs. Lithgow's Main Street cafes have outdoor seating that's generally workable with a dog, and there are pet-friendly motels, cabins and short-stay rentals around Lithgow if you're making a day or weekend of it. Confirm pet policies directly when booking. Endeavour Park nearby is a good option for an on-leash walk afterwards.
When to go. Early mornings and the 5-6pm window tend to be busiest with the after-work crowd. Mid-morning, early afternoon, and later on weekend afternoons are quieter if your dog prefers having the run of the place to itself.
