Landcox Park

A lake full of ducks sits at the centre of Landcox Park, and the paved track that circles it is one of the calmer on-lead strolls in Brighton East. Tall established trees frame the water, and the grounds are neatly kept.

Lead rules

Bayside City Council requires dogs to stay on lead at all times in Landcox Park. That matters here more than most places, because the path runs close to the lake, the playground and the picnic and barbecue areas.

Max: Ducks and a lake edge are a lot for a keen dog. Keep the lead short on the water side of the loop.

The walk

The track is paved the whole way round the central lake, with open lawn and garden beds off to the sides. Mature trees give plenty of overhead shade.

There are drinking taps near the lake and amenities, but bring a bowl, since the low dog bowls are not always filled. Bins sit through the grounds and near the exits, and street parking runs along the park edges near Mavis Avenue.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run afterwards, head to Dendy Park Dog Off Leash Area. Brother Brew Cafe is close for coffee.

The shaded, sealed loop suits older dogs and anyone working on calm lead manners around distractions.
