Lake Guthridge Accessible Walk

The Lake Guthridge Accessible Walk loops the lake beside the Sale Botanic Gardens on a smooth, step-free path. Dogs must be on a lead here at all times.

Lead rules

Wellington Shire Council lists the Lake Guthridge walking track as an on-lead area to protect local flora and fauna. The birdlife on the lake is a good reason to keep that lead short anyway.

The walk

The path is sealed and gently graded, so it works for prams, wheelchairs and older dogs. Big old trees line the way, with shady patches of grass and sheltered barbecue areas to stop at.

Drinking fountains are spaced around the precinct, and dog waste bags and bins are on hand. Accessible toilets are at both ends of the lake.

Free parking, including accessible bays, is around the lake on McIntosh Drive and Guthridge Parade.

When to go

Any season works, and the big trees help in summer. It suits older dogs and anyone who wants an easy, even surface.
