Koppen Park

Koppen Park is a small patch of green in the Cairns foothills suburb of Mooroobool, reached from Swallow Street and Jarrad Close, with the Koppen Park Conservation Reserve alongside off Dunbar Street.

Lead rules

Cairns Regional Council manages the park, and it is not a signposted off-leash area. Keep dogs on lead here.

What the walk is like

Don't expect a formal track. You walk on grass and the concrete footpaths that link the park with surrounding streets, framed by tropical vegetation.

The conservation reserve has forested sections with a good canopy, which makes it shadier than a mown suburban park.

Before you go

Water fountains and bag bins are minimal, so carry water and bags. Street parking is limited, with access near Jarrad Close and Dunbar Street.

Make a day of it

For off-lead exercise, Irene Street DogPark is the nearby option, and High Tide Coffee is a local coffee stop.

When to go

This is a quiet on-lead stroll for locals rather than a destination walk. Go early in the day, before the tropical heat builds.
