Kirkcaldy Reserve

Kirkcaldy Reserve, on the corner of Kirkcaldy Avenue and Grange Road, is a shady piece of the Grange Lakes linear park where tree-lined paths follow the water. Dogs stay on lead here.

Lead rules

The City of Charles Sturt requires dogs on a lead in its general reserves and on footpaths unless a sign marks an off-lead area, and that covers Kirkcaldy.

The walk

The sealed Grange Lakes Shared Use Path runs through the reserve, winding past lawns and native plantings beside waterways full of birds. It is part of a linked network, so you can keep walking well beyond the reserve.

There are toilets near the play area and bins around the picnic spots. Park on Kirkcaldy Avenue or Grange Road.

Water and shade on a warm day

Pepsi: The waterway looks tempting on a warm day, but pack a bottle and a bowl and let your dog drink from that instead.

Mature trees shade the grass and much of the path, which keeps it cooler than the exposed coastal walks nearby.

The Spare Room in Grange is close by, or carry on to Luma Coffee Club in Henley Beach.

Who it suits

Flat sealed paths and plenty of shade make this a good hot-day walk for older dogs and anyone pushing a pram.
