Kallaroo Foreshore Path

High above the Indian Ocean, the Kallaroo Foreshore Path is part of the coastal dual-use path running through Kallaroo and on into Hillarys. Dogs are welcome, on a lead the whole way.

Lead rules

The City of Joondalup requires dogs to stay on a lead on the shared coastal path. Off-lead running is kept to designated areas nearby, such as the Hillarys dog beach.

The walk

The path is bitumen with some concrete sections, so there is no soft sand to slog through. Expect wide ocean views, native dune scrub, limestone lookouts and beach access points along the way.

Water and shade

Shade is scarce, as the route runs through low coastal heath with little tree cover. A few drinking fountains with dog bowls sit along the path and at car parks, but carry water for longer stretches.

Bins are at the main beach access points and car parks, and small parking bays sit off the coastal access roads.

Pepsi: The sea breeze makes this one a joy, but bring a full water bottle. Fountains are few and far between.

Grounded Cafe in Kallaroo and Dropinz Coffee in Mullaloo are handy coffee stops, and the Whitfords North Dog Exercise Area in Craigie is there for an off-lead run.

When to go

In the warmer months walk it early in the morning or near sunset, when the exposed path is cooler. The even surface suits dogs of any age.
