Grounded Cafe

Grounded Cafe sits within the North Shore Community Hub at 19 Henderson Drive, Kallaroo, a relaxed community cafe where dogs are explicitly welcomed in the outdoor seating areas out the back. One thing to know before you go: Grounded finished up its primary tenancy at the hub in March 2026, handing the kitchen over to North Shore Cafe, and the operator has since run a mobile coffee setup at the Iluka Foreshore. Check who is pouring before you commit the walk.

The dog setup

Dogs on lead are welcome in the outdoor areas surrounding the cafe, with the rear tables the pick of the seats because some of them look over a calm lake and green space. The hub is built for lingering: wide lawns, free Wi-Fi, wheelchair-accessible parking, entrance and seating, and a big nature-style playground with a nest swing and climbing frame opposite the tennis courts for the kids.

Worth knowing

Grounded built its name on excellent coffee, fresh juices, house-baked muffins, bacon and egg jaffles, ham and cheese croissants and a changing line-up of handmade counter food. There is no dedicated dog menu, though water bowls and the odd counter biscuit were standard practice for visiting pups. The hub's own listing shows roughly 6am to midday trade on weekdays and 7am to midday on weekends, so mornings only.

Getting there and parking

The community hub has its own car park off Henderson Drive, which is one of the easier parking situations in Perth's northern beaches suburbs. Kallaroo has no beach access of its own, which is part of why the lake-side lawn matters here.

Close by with the dogs

The standout pairing is Hillarys Dog Beach, a long sandy off-lead stretch with calm water, bag dispensers and showers just minutes away off Whitfords Avenue. Back in coffee territory, Dropinz Coffee at Mullaloo covers the drive-through run and Dome Cafe Joondalup is the fallback sit-down option nearby.
