Johnson Park

Johnson Park on Constitution Road is where Dulwich Hill dogs get their morning and evening run. A marked area opens for off-lead play at set hours, and the park sits right on the Inner West GreenWay for a longer on-lead walk.

Off-lead hours

Inner West Council runs the off-lead area on a time share. Dogs can run free from 6am to 9am and from 4pm to 7pm, moving to 5pm to 8pm during daylight saving.

Outside those hours, and everywhere outside the marked area, dogs must be on lead. The rules also help protect the local long-nosed bandicoots.

The walk

Sealed shared paths run through the park and join the GreenWay, a walking and cycling corridor beside the light rail. Watch for bikes on the shared sections.

Along the way you pass a sports field, courts, a shaded playground and native plantings.

Water and shade

There is a water tap on site, bins around the grounds, and mature trees shading the lawns. Toilets, picnic shelters and barbecues round it out.

Street parking on Constitution Road gets tight at busy times, and the light rail stops next to the park.

Make a day of it

Cafe The Beans is close by in Dulwich Hill for a coffee after the run.

Time your visit for the off-lead windows. Early mornings are when the regulars and their dogs turn up.
