Jarrah Walk

Jarrah Walk takes you deeper into Crooked Brook Forest than the paved loop by the car park, following the brook past a billabong through tall jarrah. Dogs are welcome on lead, and the reason for the lead is the kangaroos.

Leads and wildlife

Keep your dog on lead the whole way. The rule protects the local wildlife, and a large kangaroo population lives in and around the forest.

The forest is state land managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, within the Shire of Dardanup.

The walk

Parts of the loop are hardened and even, and the rest is natural forest floor. You pass a winter brook and a quiet billabong, with black cockatoos overhead and wildflowers in spring.

The canopy is thick, so it stays shaded even in the warmer months.

Getting started

Start from the upper car park by the picnic area. That hub has a water fountain, accessible toilets, free barbecues and sheltered tables.

Fill a bottle there before you set off, carry a bowl, and pack out your dog's waste.

Max: If kangaroos are grazing near the track, shorten the lead and keep walking calmly. Don't let your dog stop and fixate.

When to go

Spring brings the wildflowers and the most visitors. The trail suits dogs with steady legs, while older dogs may be happier on the paved Forest Path near the car park.
