Jack Strathdee Memorial Park

Jack Strathdee Memorial Park sits on Zunker Street in Burnett Heads, near the old lighthouse precinct. It combines a fenced off-leash dog area with open parkland for an easy on-lead lap.

Lead rules

Bundaberg Regional Council manages the park. Dogs can run off lead inside the fenced dog area, and must be on lead across the rest of the open space.

The fenced area was one of three new fenced dog parks the council announced in 2022.

The walk

Concrete paths link the park facilities through grassed and mulched landscaping. Shade trees break up the open green space.

Historic maritime pieces near the old lighthouse give the walk some local character beyond a plain park lap.

Make a day of it

Stop for a bite at Kellys by the Sea, or head to the Bargara off-leash dog park for a change of scene.

Bring water for your dog. The fenced area suits dogs that need a secure run, while the paths make an easy on-lead lap for older dogs.
