Burnett Heads Dog Park

Burnett Heads Dog Park is a fenced, 24/7 off-leash area inside Jack Strathdee Memorial Park on Neill Street, one of the newer Bundaberg Regional Council dog parks. Secure fencing plus agility gear and shade trees make it an easy, contained run rather than a scenic destination.

The rules. Off-leash is fine inside the fence, but dogs must stay under effective voice control. Any dog showing aggression should be leashed and taken out. Keep the gates shut on the way in and out, pick up after your dog and use the bins provided. Council guidance discourages food and glass inside the fenced area to avoid squabbles between dogs.

What's there. Perimeter fencing, agility features (balance bridge, weave poles, hurdles and a jump-through in the council's park design), bench seating and established trees for shade. There is a water bubbler at the entrance for dogs and owners. The surrounding Jack Strathdee Memorial Park adds toilets, parking and a playground.

Getting there. Neill Street, Burnett Heads QLD 4670, off the main road toward the coast. Street parking is available along Neill Street, and the park connects to the local esplanade footpaths for anyone walking or cycling in. Public transport to Burnett Heads is limited, mostly local buses from Bundaberg.

Nearby with the dogs. Kellys (By the Sea) cafe a few minutes away welcomes dogs in its outdoor seating, and the Burnett Heads foreshore and marina paths suit an on-leash walk. Note that dogs are not permitted on nearby Oaks Beach, which is a patrolled swimming beach.

When to go. Weekday afternoons and Sunday evenings tend to be quietest; weekday mornings and early evenings draw the local regulars. The park sits on elevated ground away from the tide, so timing is about crowds rather than water. Good for a reliable off-leash burn close to town.
