Bob Gamble Park

Bob Gamble Park sits on the Bremer River at 2 Blackall Street in central Ipswich, part of the River Heart Parklands. Its paved circuits and timber boardwalks make an easy on-lead river walk.

Lead rules

Ipswich City Council requires dogs on a lead in its parklands and on the boardwalks, unless you are inside a designated off-leash dog park. Dogs are also kept out of the water play area.

The walk

Concrete paths and elevated boardwalks give flat, wheelchair-accessible walking with views over the river. Mature trees, shade sails and picnic shelters break up the sun.

Drinking fountains along the wider parklands are built for people, so bring a bowl. Bins sit by the barbecues and shelters.

Max: Dogs are not allowed in the water play area, so keep the lead short as you pass it.

For off-lead time, head to Off Leash Dog Park North Ipswich or McSniff Dog Park.

Flat and partly shaded, it suits older dogs and anyone pushing a pram alongside.
