Hurlingham Park

Hurlingham Park is where Brighton East dogs come to run. The main oval and its surrounds are a signed off-lead area, and a perimeter path under mature trees lets you mix a lead walk with a play.

Leads and the off-lead area

Under Bayside City Council rules, dogs can be off lead across the main ovals and surrounds. They must go back on lead within 20 metres of organised sport or training, playgrounds, barbecues and picnic areas.

On a match day that can cover most of the oval, so check what is on before you unclip.

What's there

There are drinking fountains with low dog bowls, bins and bag dispensers around the grounds. Toilets and electric barbecues sit near the main oval and pavilion, and there is off-street parking near the reserve edge.

Mature trees shade plenty of the grass and the picnic spots, which helps on a warm afternoon.

Pepsi: There is a secondary green oval as well as the main one, so there is usually room for a game of fetch.

Make a day of it

Dendy Park Dog Off Leash Area is nearby for a bigger outing, and Hustle Espresso Bar does the coffee.

It suits social dogs with good recall. Locals treat it as a meeting spot, so expect company.
