Bressington Park

Bressington Park on Underwood Road, Homebush, pairs a floodlit fenced off-leash area with a long on-lead path beside Powells Creek. It sits in the Strathfield Council area rather than in Strathfield itself.

Leads and the off-lead area

Strathfield Council requires dogs on lead across the general park and shared paths. The exception is the fully fenced off-leash area near the front car park, which has a double-gate entry.

The enclosure is floodlit, so it works for after-work runs in winter. Shade inside it is limited.

The walk

The paved shared path is part of the Bay to Bay Walk and Cycleway. It passes open playing fields and sports facilities, then follows Powells Creek toward the Bicentennial Park underpass.

Bins sit around the park and water is available near the facilities, though a portable bowl helps in summer.

Max: Cyclists use this path too. Keep the lead short and your dog on your side when bikes come through.

Make a day of it

Quatre Cafe and Olive Tree Cafe in Strathfield are handy for a coffee after the walk.

The car park off Underwood Road gets busy during sport and peak retail times, so plan around those. The floodlit enclosure makes this one of the better picks for evening exercise.
