Hoxton Park Reserve

Hoxton Park Reserve sits in Hinchinbrook, just over the line from West Hoxton and close to the M7. It is a big sporting reserve with the one thing dog owners want, a designated off-lead area on the grounds.

Leads and the off-lead area

Liverpool City Council runs the reserve. Dogs can go off lead inside the designated area only.

Everywhere else, including the sporting fields and the paths, they stay on lead and under close supervision.

The walk

Sealed concrete paths run past wide playing fields, playgrounds and community facilities. It is open parkland rather than bush, so expect a simple, easy stroll.

Bring water for the dog, and keep the lead on as you pass the playgrounds.

Make a day of it

For a fenced run with agility gear, Shale Hills Fenced Dog Park is nearby in West Hoxton, and the Shale Hills Loop adds a longer walk.

When to go

Head for the off-lead area when the fields are quiet. The reserve suits a dog that needs a run close to home more than a scenic outing.
