Gympie Terrace River Walk

Few town walks in Noosa have a view like Gympie Terrace, where the paved foreshore path tracks the Noosa River through a string of shady parks. Dogs are welcome, but only on lead.

Lead rules

Noosa Shire Council requires dogs to stay leashed along the Gympie Terrace foreshore. For a run, the council's off-leash areas are elsewhere, including Weyba Foreshore Park on Weyba Creek.

The walk

The path is flat, wide and paved, passing sandy river beaches, moored boats, picnic shelters and grassy banks. It gets plenty of foot traffic, so it suits dogs that are calm around people.

Water and shade

Bubblers with dog bowls are found in foreshore parks such as Apex Park and Lions Park, and bins are spaced along the strip. Big paperbarks and gums shade much of the way.

Getting there

Parking bays line Gympie Terrace, with larger car parks near the main parks and playgrounds.

Make a day of it

The terrace has plenty of places to stop, including Sweet Story Noosa and Taka Boys.

Mornings and late afternoons are the pick, with softer light on the river and cooler air for the dog on a hot day.
