Gowman Park

Gowman Park on Gowman Way in Ravenswood is a small community park with a bonus: a walkway garden that leads through towards the river, and dogs can be off lead on it.

Leads and the off-lead area

The Shire of Murray lists the park as a designated dog exercise area. Dogs may be off lead in the exercise area and along the walkway, as long as they stay under control.

The one exception is the playground. Within 10 metres of the play equipment, dogs must be on a lead.

The walk

This is a neighbourhood stroll rather than a long hike. Grass and sealed park paths lead from the open recreation space, past the play equipment and a basketball court, then along the walkway garden towards Ravenswood's river area.

That river end is the reason locals use it. It gives a change of scene from suburban streets without a drive.

Max: Clip the lead on before you pass the playground. Ten metres is closer than it looks when a dog spots a ball.

Make a day of it

Grab a coffee on the way at Nelley's Drive-Thru Ravenswood, or head into Pinjarra for a meal at the Exchange Hotel Pinjarra.

It suits a quick daily outing for dogs with good recall, and quieter times when the playground is empty make it easiest.
