Pinjarra Caravan Park

Pinjarra Caravan Park sits at 1716 Pinjarra Road on the edge of town, next door to the Pinjarra Golf Course in Western Australia's Peel region. It is a straightforward, budget-minded stopover with powered and tent sites, a small cluster of cabins, and resident peacocks wandering between the sites. Dogs are allowed, which makes it a practical overnight base between Perth and the Dwellingup forests.

Dogs are welcome on the powered and tent sites, and travelling pets are a regular sight at the park. The usual rules apply: keep your dog on a lead around the grounds and clean up after them. If you want a cabin or chalet instead of a site, check with the office when booking, since pets in roofed accommodation need separate approval and are not guaranteed. Size and breed limits are not published, so confirm any restrictions on larger dogs when you reserve.

Worth knowing

The park has a camp kitchen, clean shower blocks, a games room with a dart board, a swimming pool and laundry facilities, and it shares a fence line with the golf course, so there is grass to stretch along of an evening. Kangaroos and bandicoots move through the area, which is another reason to keep leads on. Pet fees are not listed online, so ask management when you book, and bring your own water bowl and bedding.

Getting there

The address is 1716 Pinjarra Road, an easy turn off the main route through town, with Pinjarra's George Street cafes and shops a few minutes away by car and parking at the park itself.

While you're out there

For exercise, Rotoract Park in town has a designated off-leash dog exercise area (keep clear of the playground zone), and the Pinjarra Murray River Walk is a flat, scenic on-leash stroll under big jarrahs. Lane Poole Reserve near Dwellingup, about half an hour away, allows dogs on lead through the forest and river parkland. For coffee, Dome Cafe Pinjarra is an easy stop with outdoor seating.

Pepsi: the camp kitchen is a good spot to towel off a muddy dog before you head back to your site.
