Glen Iris Wetlands Walk

The Glen Iris Wetlands Walk loops past a string of ponds beside Gardiners Creek, with timber boardwalks over the water and a large bird hide. Because it joins the Gardiners Creek Trail, a short loop can easily become a long walk.

Lead rules

The City of Stonnington requires dogs to be on lead at all times along the wetlands and the connecting creek trail sections.

The walk

Paths are sealed and flat, with non-slip timber boardwalks and safety rails across the ponds. The wetlands draw plenty of native birds, which makes it a rich sniffing walk.

Some stretches have mature trees and shelters, but the sections beside the ponds and the oval are open. Bins are spread along the paths.

Getting started

Parking is on the northern side near the sports pavilion, off High Street. Taps with dog bowls sit near the pavilion and park facilities, along with toilets and seating.

Make a day of it

The flat, sealed route suits dogs and owners of any fitness. Birdwatchers will want a slow pace past the hide.
