Lake Apex Circuit

The paved circuit around Lake Apex in Gatton is the walk people mean by the gallery park, since it loops past the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre and its art gallery. Lockyer Valley Regional Council runs the precinct, and dogs walk it on lead.

Leads and the off-lead area

Dogs must stay on lead on the walking tracks around the lake. A fully fenced off-lead dog area sits on site near Western Drive.

The walk

The track is fully paved concrete, easy for dogs and owners of any fitness. Black swans, pelicans and other waterbirds share the lake.

Water taps and bowls are at the precinct and in the fenced dog area, with bins and bag dispensers throughout. Trees line parts of the lake, and there are covered tables.

The main car park beside the cultural centre has plenty of room.

Pepsi: Lap the lake on lead, then let the zoomies out in the fenced area. There is water waiting in both spots.

Dawson Phipps Park is another Gatton walk, and jak & Mo Taste Co is close for a bite.

When to go

The smooth path suits older dogs and prams alike. Weekend mornings can be busier, with parkrun and community events in the precinct.
