jak & Mo Taste Co is a wholefoods cafe at 17A Railway Street in the middle of Gatton, known for a funky alley-style outdoor space and a menu built on fresh, locally sourced Lockyer Valley produce. For a country town stop it punches well above its weight, and leashed dogs are welcome out in the alley.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor alley seating but not inside the main dining room, so ask for an alley table when you arrive. The space is open-air and shaded, with a relaxed courtyard feel. Keep your dog leashed and settled at your feet. A water bowl is often out, but bring your own on warm days to be safe.

The vibe and the menu

This is a wholefoods kitchen rather than a greasy spoon: eggs benedict, a solid egg and bacon roll, salmon stack, carrot cake and florentines, with gluten-free options and smoothies alongside bespoke coffee. There is also a small pantry section selling local produce if you want to take some of the valley home. Hours are 7am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 12:30pm Saturday, closed Sunday. Weekday mornings are the calm window for a dog at your feet.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits in Gatton's main commercial strip on Railway Street, with on-street parking along the street and side streets. The Gatton off-leash dog park is a short drive away for a run before or after coffee, and the lake-side walk there pairs well with a morning out. Albany Art Cafe and Workshops further up the valley is another dog-friendly option if you are touring the region.
