Dawson Phipps Park

Dawson Phipps Park on Hunter Street is about a hectare of open grass in Gatton, a quiet spot for an on-lead leg stretch rather than a long walk.

Lead rules

Lockyer Valley Regional Council requires dogs on a lead here. This is an open community park, not a fenced off-leash area.

The park

There are no formal paths. You walk on lawn and open ground, past shaded play equipment, upgraded seating and covered barbecues.

Established trees and the barbecue shelters give pockets of shade, and bins are on site. There is no dog water, so bring a bottle.

For off-lead running, head to the Gatton Off-Leash Dog Park. Refuel afterwards at jak & Mo Taste Co.

When to go

Street parking sits right by the park. Its small scale and grassy footing suit an easy wander with an older dog or a young one still learning lead manners.
