Frank Potts Reserve

Frank Potts Reserve is a shady stop on the Bremer River at Langhorne Creek, in the heart of the wine region. It is a camping and rest area more than a formal trail, but its grassy river flats make an easy on-lead leg stretch.

Lead rules

Alexandrina Council requires dogs on a lead no longer than 2 metres in its public places and reserves unless signs say otherwise. That applies here, campers included.

The walk

There is no made path, just grass and earth under big old trees along the river bank. Look across the water to the vineyards that surround the town.

Toilets, including accessible ones, and free parking are on site. Bring water and a bowl for the dog.

Pair it with

The town centre is a short walk away. Alfred Langhorne Park on Bridge Road, beside the post office, adds shaded lawns, picnic facilities and history boards for a second stop.

When to go

The shade makes it a good summer pause on a wine region drive. It suits travelling dogs that need a quiet break from the car, and owners who fancy staying the night at the campground.
