Estella Road Shared Path

For Boorooma locals, the Estella Road shared path is the everyday on-lead walk: a smooth concrete path through Wagga Wagga's growing northern suburbs, heading towards Charles Sturt University.

Lead rules

Wagga Wagga City Council requires dogs to be on a leash on public shared paths, so the lead stays on the whole way.

What the walk is like

The path is part of the council's active travel network. It passes suburban streets, schools and open green space, and it is wide and open, so you can see bikes and other dogs coming.

That predictability makes it a handy route for training a young or reactive dog. The street trees are still young, so shade is patchy and bins sit mostly near intersections.

Dog bubblers are scarce along the path, so bring water and a bowl. Parking is informal, on nearby streets.

Make a day of it

When the dog needs a proper run, Gobbagombalin Fenced Dog Park in the next suburb has two off-lead enclosures, one with agility gear. Hadley’s Cafe is the local coffee stop.

Summer afternoons are hot on this open path, so go early in the morning or in the evening.
