Eglinton Shared Path

Eglinton's shared path links this quiet village on the edge of Bathurst to the wider cycleway network. The surface is smooth and sealed, and the pace is calmer than in town, which makes it a good on-lead walk for dogs that get wound up by busy streets.

Leads and the off-lead area

Bathurst Regional Council allows dogs on its footpaths and shared paths on a lead only.

If your dog needs a proper run, Cubis Park on Alexander Street has an off-leash area toward the back of the park.

The walk

Expect concrete and asphalt, with formed off-road cycleway sections. Heading toward Bathurst you pass semi-rural homes, open grassy river flats and local sporting fields.

Water and shade

Bubblers are scarce, so pack water and a bowl for the dog. Shade is patchy where the path runs beside open roadside land, which matters on summer afternoons.

Bins sit near the entry points, and roadside parking is easy to find near the main access spots.

Grab a coffee at The Church Block Cafe in the village, then finish with a run at West Bathurst Fenced Dog Park.
