Edithvale Foreshore Trail

Colourful bathing boxes and wide views over Port Phillip Bay line the Edithvale foreshore path. On the path itself, dogs stay on leash, and the sand below runs on seasonal times.

Leads and the sand

The City of Kingston requires leads on the footpaths and tracks through the foreshore reserve at all times.

On the sand from 1 December to 31 March, dogs can be off leash from sunrise to 10 am, are banned from 10 am to 7:30 pm, and must be leashed from 7:30 pm to sunrise. Other months have different sand times, so read the signs at the access points.

The walk

A paved shared path runs parallel to Edithvale Beach, with sandy tracks leading down to the water. Native coastal plants border the path, and the bay stays in view the whole way.

Natural shade is limited on this exposed stretch. Drinking fountains are near the main beach access points, and the foreshore car parks fill quickly on warm weekends.

Max: In summer, get here before 10 am if your dog wants the beach, because the sand closes to dogs after that.

Early summer mornings are the pick for a sand run followed by a path walk.
