Darlington Parklands Discovery Trail

Darlington Parklands starts as a splash park and playgrounds on Darlington Drive and fades into bushland and wetland as you follow the Discovery Trail. Dogs are welcome on a lead the whole way.

Lead rules

Dogs must stay on a lead throughout the parklands and on the trails. Logan City Council looks after the park, which was built as part of the Yarrabilba community.

The walk

Paved concrete paths and boardwalk sections lead from the lawns into native trees, wetland and birdlife. The paths are wide and smooth enough for a pram beside the dog.

Parts of the loop sit in full sun, though picnic shelters and young lemon myrtle groves give some relief. Drinking water is in the main park, and bins are spread through the picnic areas.

Pepsi: Pack a bowl and top it up at the main park before the trail, because parts of the loop are out in the sun.

Make a day of it

For off-lead time, Buxton Park Fenced Dog Park is nearby, and the Logan Village to Yarrabilba Rail Trail suits a longer on-lead walk.

Morning or late afternoon is best in summer. Expect families around the splash park, which is good practice for dogs learning to stay calm in a lively setting.
