Craigie Bushland

Craigie Bushland sits behind Craigie Leisure Centre on the Beldon border, a patch of tuart and banksia with quendas living inside a fenced sanctuary. Dogs can walk the outer tracks on lead but may not enter the enclosure.

Lead rules

The City of Joondalup bans dogs from the fenced quenda enclosure to protect the southern brown bandicoots inside. Outside the fence, dogs are allowed on a lead on the shared tracks.

The walk

The outer paths are a mix of sand, limestone and dirt, with compacted limestone and some sealed sections near the perimeter. The loops are flat and easy, under a thick native canopy.

Seasonal wildflowers brighten the understorey, and you may spot quendas foraging behind the fence.

Max: Every sniff here smells like bandicoot. A short lead near the fence keeps things calm.

Getting started

Park behind Craigie Leisure Centre off Whitfords Avenue, close to the reserve gates. Bins are near the main entry points, but there is little dog water on the tracks, so bring your own.

Make a day of it

Add a lap of Beldon Park, then stop at Distrykt Coffee.

The shade makes it a good summer option. It suits calm dogs happy on a lead near wildlife.
