Coorparoo and Holland Park Heritage Trail

The Coorparoo and Holland Park Heritage Trail is a 4.4 kilometre street walk past 1930s Old English homes, former churches and the heritage-listed Holland Park State School. It is a footpath walk for dogs who are relaxed on lead around houses and traffic.

Lead rules

Brisbane City Council created the self-guided trail. On its streets and footpaths dogs must be on a lead, as in all public areas outside designated off-leash parks.

The walk

Most of the route follows concrete and asphalt footpaths through residential streets, with some inclines. It traces early tramway routes as well as historic homes.

Shade comes and goes, with mature street trees and Queenslander gardens on some streets and bare footpath on others. Carry water and a bowl for the dog.

Bins turn up on the main roads such as Chatsworth Road and Logan Road, so bring bags. Street parking is easy near most of the stops.

Make a day of it

Many locals pair the walk with an off-lead run at Wembley Park Fenced Dog Park in Coorparoo.

When to go

Pick a cool morning, as the exposed footpaths heat up fast. The length and the inclines suit fit, lead-trained dogs better than very old ones.
