Kirra Beach Path

The paved path behind Kirra Beach is one of the liveliest stretches of the Gold Coast Oceanway, with surfboards, cafes and ocean on every side. Dogs walk it on lead, and the flagged beach sand is off the table.

Lead rules

The City of Gold Coast requires dogs to be on a leash on the shared pedestrian and cycle path. Dogs are restricted on the beach near the flagged swimming areas, so stay up on the path.

The walk

The surface is smooth concrete and bitumen, shared with bikes. Norfolk Island pines and foreshore parks shade parts of it, while the beachfront sections are in full sun.

Bubblers sit at intervals along the foreshore parks, some with low bowls for dogs, and bins are frequent. Parking is along Marine Parade and the side streets, and it fills fast on busy weekends.

Make a day of it

Finish with a coffee at Cafe Kirra or MADE - Kirra.

When to go

Go early, before the heat and the parking crunch. Dogs that are relaxed around bikes and crowds will enjoy it most.
