Colquhoun Park

Colquhoun Park on Blaxcell Street is South Granville's local green space, with playing fields, a cricket pitch and nets, a basketball setup and a modern playspace. Dogs are welcome, but on a lead, since Cumberland City Council does not list it as an off-leash park.

The walk

Paved concrete paths run alongside the grass fields, giving a simple, easy-to-follow circuit for a daily lap. It is flat and straightforward, handy for a quick walk before or after work.

Water, shade and parking

There are bubblers in the park, though a portable bowl makes life easier for the dog. Bins sit around the picnic and play areas.

Shade is limited to a few mature trees and small shelters, so the fields can feel exposed in summer. Parking is on site and in the street near the Blaxcell Street entrance.

Max: Sports fields mean balls, kids and cricket nets. Keep the lead short when games are on.

For off-lead time, drive to Handley Street Fenced Dog Park. For a longer on-lead walk try Duck river crossing, then grab a coffee at Caffeine Corner.

When to go

Morning or evening in the warmer months, when the thin shade matters less. It suits dogs that are happy with a short, steady lap on a lead.
