Beacon Point Reserve

Beacon Point Reserve gives dogs about 12 hectares of off-lead clifftop grass with views across Port Phillip Bay. It sits in Clifton Springs on the edge of Drysdale, managed by the City of Greater Geelong.

Off lead, with one catch

Dogs can be off lead in the designated grassed areas at any time of day, provided they are under effective control.

There is no formal beach access from the reserve, and the cliff face down to the water is steep.

The walk

Expect wide flat lawns and informal earthen tracks along the clifftops east of the Clifton Springs boat harbour. The views run across the bay toward the You Yangs and Melbourne.

Mature trees give patchy shade, but much of the clifftop is exposed. There is a bin near the grass and car park, and informal parking by the entrances.

Max: The cliff is steep and there is no path down to the beach. Call your dog back well before the edge.

Back in Drysdale, Cafe Zoo and The Bungalow are handy stops.

When to go

Drinking water on site is limited, so carry plenty. Cooler, calmer days suit it best given how exposed the clifftop is.
